You may have wondered if there is a way to use Microsoft excel without having to pay for it by buying the software itself. Thankfully there is and in this article we are going to show you how to do just that. In fact, you will be able to view other people’s Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and create your own spreadsheets and save them in various formats, all without having to pay a penny.
For starters, Microsoft excel is a software program created by Microsoft that uses spreadsheets to organize numbers and data with formulas and functions.
The Free version of Excel we are about to show you how to use is called Excel for web. It is an online version of Microsoft Excel that operates from the cloud.
This is how to go go about using it
STEP 1 – visit www.office.com
You should see a webpage that looks like this
STEP 2: Click SIGN UP FOR THE FREE VERSION OF OFFICE on the office.com homepage.
If you already have a Microsoft account you can click SIGN IN to continue. You would be able to sign in using your pre-existing Microsoft account.
Also note that if you click GET OFFICE, you will be led to a page where Microsoft would encourage you to buy the office suite.
If You click SIGN IN, you should be led to this page;
But if you don’t already have a Microsoft account and you click SIGN UP FOR THE FREE VERSION OF OFFICE, you will be led to the create account page instead which looks like this;
Fillin the required details to create your account. Note that you will be asked to verify the email address provided. So please use an email address that you have easy access to.
After registering for your office.com/Microsoft account or if you already have an account you can proceed to sign in.
When you sign in, you will see the Office Home screen. Which looks like this;
When you look closely at the left-hand side of the screen, you will see the encircled plus button (+) as well as icons for various Microsoft programs such as MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Power Point etc. The icons help you have quick access to the most common Microsoft Products/programs.
Click the create button (the encircled plus button) Or Click the excel icon to open a new Microsoft spread sheet and start using MS Excel for free.

If you click the CREATE Button or icon, a further drop down menu will pop out, and on that menu, click “Workbook (Excel)” And it will lead you to a NEW EXCEL SPREADSHEET just like in the 2nd picture below

With your Excel for web spreadsheet open, you can type in data, format it and have it saved to your Computer for your use.
